EXETER VILLA NURSING & RETIREMENT HOME

IMG_0017.JPG

Exeter Villa Long Term Care & Retirement Living is located in a rural area in the quaint and lovely, small town of Exeter, Ontario in Huron County. Exeter Villa is nestled around charming residential homes, in a lovely, manicured neighbourhood and it serves a wide area reaching from Grand Bend, up towards Grey-Bruce county, across to Perth, and down to Middlesex counties.

Exeter Villa boasts a single-story, brick-built, fully sprinklered home where community pride and support are evident in that generations of families have worked in and have even moved into Exeter Villa over the years as the preferred “home away from home” of choice.

Exeter Villa is a fully-accredited 47-bed LTC home that opened its doors to the community in 1986.  Since additions/renovations were made in 1994 and the Basic/Ward accommodation allowance was changed in 2021, Exeter Villa currently has 42 actively filled LTC beds with a wait-list of an average

of over 70 applicants from the community. Exeter Villa has 4 additional Semi-Private beds available for Infection Prevention and Control purposes, and as always, 1 Private bed, the Serenity Suite, is available specifically for in-home Palliative purposes. The building and premises have secured access with safety systems that monitor both interior common spaces and exterior doors.

Exeter Villa LTC provides 24-hour professional, registered nursing, and certified personal care with access to a doctor, nurse practitioner, dietitian, physiotherapist, and other health professionals, as required. Phlebotomy services are provided in-house, and on-site. Assistance with medication, activities of daily living, whirlpool bathing, and enjoying meals and snacks included. Medical supplies and equipment (such as catheters, ostomy bags, or wound care supplies) and personal hygiene supplies are provided as are linen and basic furnishings, laundry, and housekeeping services. Residents enjoy daily recreation and social programs including spiritual, emotional, palliative, and end-of-life care.

Additional services include access to restorative and rehabilitative care and dementia or memory care, with Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) expertise, a Snoezelen room, and community support groups like Alzheimer Society and Senior’s Mental Health specializing in geriatric care needs. Exeter Villa enables access to respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, and the assistive devices program in order to make the most of the restorative care and rehabilitation programs. Access to dental care (dentist and/or dental hygienist) and hearing care services along with foot and hair care are all available on site. Pet therapy, music therapy, spiritual/pastoral care, and even retail therapy (tuck shop) rounds out the experience of having everything one might need and or desire. Exeter Villa has an active Residents’ Council and invites family members to join Family Council to advocate for their loved ones.

Exeter Villa has a co-located 66-suite Retirement Living side, which allows for continuity of care when a LTC bed is offered through Home and Community Care Support Services (HCCSS) Placement protocol at the same location.

Exeter Villa is a proud part of ATK Care Group Limited, a family-owned, for-profit LTC that is incorporated with two other LTC homes, one located in Fordwich called Fordwich Village (33-bed, now 27) and the other, in Sutton, called River Glen Haven (119 now 77-bed LTC home).
